Shelter: BC SPCA - Kamloops & District Branch Animal ID: 511789 Birthdate: April 22, 2020 - Kitten Spayed/Neutered: Yes Female Ellie is a pretty little kitty who came to the SPCA with a large number of kittens and cats rescued from a cat colony in need. She has spent the last several weeks in a foster home getting healthy plus working on her socialization to people as she was pretty scared at first. She's come a long way in a foster home and has really started to show her curious, sweet, and playful side with purrs just waiting to come out. She may still be nervous and shy in a new environment at first so will need a gentle and loving guardian(s) who can help her adjust in the home. Given lots of love and attention in she will certainly blossom into a wonderful, loving companion who will entertain you with her kitten antics. Ellie can't wait to find her fur-ever family! Could it be you? The colony Ellie came from had some parasites and bacteria which she had to be treated for when she came in. She also has been exposed to Calici, a upper respiratory virus in cats, that causes symptoms like eye and nose discharge, sneezing, congestion, and oral ulcers. Luckily Ellie only had very mild symptoms when she came in and recovered quickly in a healthy environment. There is the possibility that Ellie could carry the virus with her for life and potentially shed it intermittently. Because it is potentially contagious to other cats it is recommended she be kept as indoor only and either be the only cat in the home or go to a home with a cat who has already been exposed to the virus. Felines in the home should be kept up to date with regular vaccinations. A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
