Employment OpportunityPublic Works DepartmentTemporary Full Time July to AugustThe Village of Clinton is partnering with the Thompson Nicola Regional District (TNRD) to offer an exciting employment opportunity for an Invasive Plant Technician in the Public Works Department. Services include mechanical treatment of invasive plants on roadsides and private lands in the Village of Clinton and the TNRD, promotion of Clinton's invasive plant control program, and other duties as assigned.The successful candidate will work a Forty-hour (40) week and may include weekend duties, with the possibility of additional call in time.Under the supervision of the Public Works Foreman, the successful candidate must possess a good understanding of invasive plant control practices, methodology, and legislation in BC. A Class 5 driver's license, or equivalent is required.Being enrolled in, or possessing an undergraduate degree in science, engineering, environmental studies, education or a related field would be an asset. Being a team player and having the ability to get along with others and the public is a must.Preference will be given to those candidates with experience, skill, certification and have a willingness to work on evenings / weekends, carry out field work in TNRD locations and along road right of ways, walk through varying terrain and work in varying weather conditions.The position ensures adherence to proper work standards and techniques and to good safety practices and WCB safety standards.
