Shelter: BC SPCA - Kamloops & District Branch Animal ID: 518042 Birthdate: October 03, 2018 - Adult Spayed/Neutered: No Male This is Spot! He's an Akbash X Border Collie that is very shy but an energetic young canine. He will surely need a new home that is active and able to meet his activity level. He is nervous of strangers, especially if they are men. So he will need positive reinforcement to help him be calm and build up his confidence when meeting new people. Spot has the tendency to bark if he's feeling overwhelmed or scared. Unfortunately Spot is prone to ear infections and so he requires a special diet to help avoid the infections from becoming a chronic problem. He knows how to Sit" but needs more work on other things like not pulling on leash or jumping up. His mixed breeding of Border Collie and Akbash dictates that he is smart, cautious and will be a loyal family member if given the right home. It would be of great benefit to both you and Spot if you had experience with the Akbash breed. Do extensive research on his breed before considering him for the newest member of your family. If you have a large acreage, hobby farm or just are an active household, then Spot would be a good fit. *Due to COVID-19 we've made changes to our adoption process. To adopt: 1.
