Shelter: BC SPCA - Kamloops Animal ID: 475366 Birthdate: November 11, 2013 - Adult Spayed/Neutered: No Male Duke was surrendered to the Kamloops SPCA because his previous owner had health issues. Duke is extremely under socialized when it comes to car rides, wearing a collar or walking on leash. Even basic handling can quickly start to overwhelm Duke, if startled he does have the tendency to nip. This is all stuff we have been working on with him while he's been at the shelter. We have also had the help of a veterinary who has recommended a medication for Duke's anxiety. Hopefully Duke can eventually be weaned off of the medication once he's overcome his fear and anxiety when it comes to basic day to day things. Duke has lived peacefully with cats and other dogs but can be selective with some male dogs. Once Duke knows and trusts you he's really sweet and gentle. Duke loves having access to a dog crate, it's his "safe place" and it has also been a bonus with working on his fear of car rides as well. He needs a dog savvy owner that is comfortable in continuing to help him with his fear and basic training. If you would like to know more about Duke please speak with shelter staff. *A behaviour counselling session with our Adoption Staff is necessary before adopting any animal.
